FAQ
Do I need to be an expert swimmer to shoot underwater?
We shoot all levels of swimmers, but, please be HONEST about your swimming abilities so we can prepare appropriately. Safety is the first priority!
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am based in Nashville, TN and don't travel too often for shoots but definitely open to it!
When will we get receive our images?
After your session, I will send you the best takes from our session for you to preview your images and choose your top 5 favorites. After you have chosen your favorites, I will professionally edit them and give you print and social ready versions of them!
What should I bring to my underwater shoot?
It's best to wear something that flows in the water and doesn't stick close to the body. In addition to the gowns/outfits, please bring a swimsuit that matches your outfit, or you can bring bra/underwear that either matches your skin tone or your outfit. Here's a checklist of all other items you should plan to bring:
- Contact case/solution (we recommend taking out contacts for photoshoots)
- Dry set of undergarments
- Dry set of clothes
- Trash bag to put wet items in after the shoot
- Towel
- Goggles
- Sunscreen (if shooting outdoors)
- Shoot Attire + Accessories/Shoes/Etc
- Come with Makeup DONE and bring makeup for any touch ups in between
- Waterproofing makeup setting spray - I recommend Mehron Barrier Spray, available on Amazon for around $10
- If you're wearing wigs, I recommend the Esha lace front adhesive glue (strong hold) and be sure to get the remover as well! It's also available on Amazon for around $25
How do i prepare for my underwater shoot?
Before your shoot, I recommend looking up some inspiration images/creating a pinterest board for the look you want to go for that you can share with us prior to your shoot. If you have the option to practice underwater, please do so, but only with a safety diver or lifeguard present. Never practice your breath holds or posing by yourself. Breathing is a huge part of underwater shoots, so having awareness of your breath control is always a plus!
what should i expect during my underwater session?
The first half hour of your session will be prep work for the shoot. I will go over posing, breathing, and tips to get the most out of your shoot. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your shoot time slot so we can make the most of our time together.
How does payment work?
Your session fee reserves your spot on the calendar and must be paid in full by the scheduled session date.
You may also add extra images edits for a $50 per image fee.
